Argentina: Merchandise trade surplus narrows in December
Latest reading: In December, the trade balance was USD +1.9 billion, following a USD +2.5 billion reading in the prior month. Over the last 12 months, the trade balance summed to USD +11.3 billion.
Exports increased 5.7% in annual terms in December, following 24.6% growth in the prior month. December’s reading was the weakest since May 2025, with surging agricultural exports partly offset by lower manufactured exports. Imports increased 3.5% in year-on-year terms in December, coming on the back of a 6.6% rise in the prior month. December’s reading was the weakest since November 2024.
