Aluminium prices averaged USD 3,594 per metric ton in April, up 6.6% from March. On 30 April, the commodity traded at USD 3,530 per metric ton, up 0.3% from 31 March.
In April, average aluminium prices continued to surge, posting the strongest performance among base metals for the second consecutive month. Supply disruptions stemming from the closure of the Strait of Hormuz fueled the rally, with the Gulf region accounting for roughly 9% of global supply. Over the past two months, Iranian attacks have forced halts or reduced output at three major regional smelters, underscoring expectations of a supply deficit ahead.
