Rice prices averaged USD 385 per metric ton in March, down 6.3% from February. On 31 March, the commodity traded at USD 372 per metric ton, down 7.9% from 27 February.
In March, rice prices fell for the third consecutive month and at the sharpest pace since last July. Oversupply of the commodity and sluggish demand continued to cap prices, outweighing upside pressure from the war in Iran, which has led to a spike in energy, shipping and insurance costs.
