Coking coal prices averaged USD 226 per metric ton in March, down 8.6% from February. On 31 March, the commodity traded at USD 235 per metric ton, down 0.8% from 27 February.
After hitting a 20-month high in February, Australian coking coal prices fell in March due to the high availability of cargoes and weak demand from Chinese steel mills following the Lunar New Year. Moreover, global demand was knocked by higher shipping costs due to the Iran war.
