Steel (USA) prices averaged USD 1,021 per metric ton in March, up 3.9% from February. On 31 March, the commodity traded at USD 1,048 per metric ton, up 3.0% from 27 February.
In March, average prices climbed for a sixth straight month, reaching the highest level in more than two years as energy costs surged in the wake of the U.S.-Iran conflict, fanning shipment and input costs. Moreover, higher iron ore prices, a key input for steelmakers, further supported prices.
