Steel (Europe) prices averaged USD 827 per metric ton in August, up 3.8% from July. On 31 August, the commodity traded at USD 840 per metric ton, up 3.1% from 31 July.
In August, EU steel prices rose for the eleventh month out of the last thirteen. Prices are up around 15% year to date, aided by new import restrictions introduced on 1 July plus the full rollout of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) from the start of this year.
