Belarus: Industrial production falls at a faster clip in January
Latest reading: Industrial production fell 3.4% in annual terms in January, following a 1.8% decline in the prior month. January’s reading was the weakest since January 2023.
Relative to the previous month’s figures, readings in January softened for manufacturing (-7.5% on a year-on-year basis vs -2.5% in December), mining and quarrying (-1.3% vs +2.7% in December) and water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities (-2.9% vs 0.0% in December). In contrast, the reading for electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply improved in January (+17.5% vs +1.7% in December).
