Belarus: Inflation hits one-year low in February
Latest reading: Consumer prices increased 5.6% in annual terms in February, following a 6.4% increase in the previous month. February’s reading was the weakest since February 2025 and remained below the 2026 inflation target of 7.0%, although it was still above the previous 2025 inflation target of 5.0%.
Relative to the prior month’s figures, there were milder price pressures for housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (+2.5% on a year-on-year basis vs +10.1% in January), transportation (+3.7% vs +4.0% in January) and clothing (+2.4% vs +2.9% in January). Finally, the change in food and non-alcoholic beverages prices was the same as in the prior month (+8.7% in February and January).
Lastly, consumer prices were up 0.60% in February on a month-on-month basis, following a 0.50% increase in the previous month.
