Latest reading: Economic sentiment declined to 92.1 in February, following January’s 92.6. The latest reading was below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
In February, sentiment worsened in the industrial sector (-14.9 vs -12.5 in January) and the construction sector (-13.6 vs -10.8 in January). In contrast, sentiment improved in the services sector (+7.1 vs +1.1 in January) and the retail sector (-9.8 vs -13.0 in January). Sentiment in among consumers was unchanged from the previous month at -13.9.
