Latest reading: Economic sentiment fell to 88.6 in February, following January’s 91.6. The latest reading was the lowest since April 2023 and below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
In February, sentiment darkened in the industrial sector (-21.2 vs -19.4 in January), the construction sector (-12.7 vs -10.7 in January), the services sector (+5.8 vs +8.2 in January), the retail sector (+11.8 vs +14.7 in January) and among consumers (-7.9 vs -7.8 in January).
