Ecuador: Inflation rises in December from the prior month
Latest reading: Consumer prices were up 1.9% in annual terms in December, following a 1.1% increase in the prior month. December’s reading was the strongest since May 2024.
Relative to the prior month’s data, there were higher price pressures for In contrast, there were milder price pressures for transportation (+0.9% vs +1.4% in November), food and non-alcoholic beverages (+1.3% vs +1.8% in November), clothing and footwear (-5.3% vs -5.0% in November) and restaurants and hotels (+1.5% vs +1.6% in November). Finally, the change in communication prices was the same as in the prior month (-1.2% in December and November).
Lastly, consumer prices declined 0.14% in December on a month-on-month basis, following a 0.44% decline in the previous month.
