France: Industrial production falls in December
Latest reading: Industrial production—excluding construction—was down 0.7% in working day and seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms in December, following a 0.1% rise in the prior month.
Relative to the prior month’s figures, readings in December worsened for manufacturing (-0.8% in working day and seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms vs +0.5% in November). In contrast, the readings improved for mining and quarrying (-0.5% vs -1.3% in November) and energy (-0.1% vs -1.8% in November).
On a working day and seasonally adjusted year-on-year basis, industrial production increased 1.7% in December, following a 2.0% rise in the prior month.
