France: Industrial production recovers in January
Latest reading: Industrial production—excluding construction—rose 0.5% in working-day and seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms in January, following a 0.5% fall in the prior month.
Relative to the prior month’s data, the reading for manufacturing improved in January (+0.6% in working-day and seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms vs -0.7% in December). In contrast, readings softened for mining and quarrying (-0.5% vs +0.4% in December) and energy (-0.1% vs +0.3% in December).
In working-day and seasonally adjusted year-on-year terms, industrial production increased 2.4% in January, following a 1.6% increase in the previous month.
