Greece: Economic sentiment improves in December
Latest reading: Economic sentiment went up to 107.4 in December, following November’s 105.9. The index remained among the strongest in the EU and well above the long-term average of 100, pointing to a positive near-term outlook for the economy.
In December, sentiment brightened in the industrial sector (+5.7 vs +2.2 in November), the construction sector (+16.1 vs +15.0 in November) and among consumers (-47.0 vs -50.6 in November), though Greek households consistently remain the least confident in the EU. On the flipside, sentiment darkened in the services sector (+31.7 vs +35.4 in November) and the retail sector (-4.7 vs +6.6 in November).
