Hungary: Industrial production shrinks more slowly in December
Latest reading: Industrial production fell 1.0% in annual terms in December, following a 5.5% fall in the prior month. December’s reading was the strongest since February 2024.
Relative to the previous month’s figures, the reading for manufacturing improved in December (+0.9% on a year-on-year basis vs -5.7% in November). In contrast, readings worsened for mining and quarrying (-20.9% vs -12.1% in November) and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning (-20.4% vs -1.9% in November).
In seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms, industrial production increased 0.9% in December, following a 1.6% decline in the previous month.
