Ireland: Economic sentiment improves in December
Latest reading: Economic sentiment went up to 100.4 in December, following November’s 95.8. December’s reading was the highest since March 2025. As a result, the index moved above the long-term average of 100 for the first time since August 2025, pointing to a more optimistic outlook for the economy.
In December, sentiment improved in the industrial sector (+12.9 vs +3.4 in November), the services sector (+25.0 vs +16.3 in November) and among consumers (-17.5 vs -18.0 in November). In contrast, sentiment worsened in the construction sector (+18.1 vs +26.4 in November) and the retail sector (+6.7 vs +6.9 in November).
