Italy: Economic sentiment drops in December
Latest reading: Economic sentiment fell to 101.1 in December, following November’s 101.7. Still, the index remained above the long-term average of 100, pointing to a positive near-term outlook for the economy.
In December, sentiment worsened in the industrial sector (-6.6 vs -5.6 in November), the construction sector (+3.3 vs +4.5 in November) and the retail sector (+14.1 vs +15.2 in November). In contrast, sentiment turned more upbeat in the services sector (+5.1 vs +4.1 in November). Sentiment among consumers was stable from the previous month at -16.4.
