Malaysia: Industrial production accelerates in October
Latest reading: Industrial production rose 6.0% on a year-on-year basis in October, following a 5.7% rise in the previous month. October’s reading was the strongest since September 2022.
Relative to the previous month’s data, the reading for manufacturing improved in October (+6.5% in annual terms vs +5.0% in September). In contrast, readings worsened for mining and quarrying (+5.8% vs +10.2% in September) and electricity and gas (+1.2% vs +2.8% in September).
In seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms, industrial production was up 0.6% in October, following a 0.9% drop in the prior month.
