Malaysia: Industrial production gains steam in December
Latest reading: Industrial production was up 4.9% on a year-on-year basis in December, following a 4.3% increase in the prior month.
Relative to the prior month’s figures, readings in December improved for manufacturing (+6.7% in annual terms vs +4.9% in November) and electricity and gas (+3.7% vs +2.7% in November). In contrast, the reading worsened for mining and quarrying (-2.5% vs +2.3% in November).
In seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms, industrial production was up 1.0% in December, following a 1.3% fall in the previous month.
