Netherlands: Economic sentiment deteriorates in November
Latest reading: Economic sentiment edged down to its long-term average of 100 in November, from October’s 100.3, remaining above both the EU and euro area averages and pointing to a stable near-term outlook for the economy.
In November, sentiment worsened in the industrial sector (-2.4 vs -1.7 in October). This is consistent with the EU-wide trend, where the decline is driven by managers’ deteriorating production expectations and poorer evaluations of current order books. On the flipside, sentiment improved in the construction sector (+18.7 vs +17.8 in October), the services sector (+5.8 vs +5.2 in October), the retail sector (+5.7 vs +1.7 in October) and among consumers (-8.3 vs -11.8 in October).
