Netherlands: Economic sentiment increases in January
Latest reading: Economic sentiment increased to 102.7 in January, following December’s 100.4; the improvement exceeded that of the EU. The latest reading was above the long-term average of 100, pointing to a positive near-term outlook for the economy and marking the highest figure since May 2022.
In January, sentiment improved in the industrial sector (+0.7 vs -1.2 in December), the services sector (+7.2 vs +5.2 in December) and the retail sector (+5.8 vs +3.1 in December). In contrast, sentiment darkened in the construction sector (+21.4 vs +24.4 in December) and among consumers (-11.9 vs -10.3 in December).
