Norway: Industrial production speeds up in January
Latest reading: Industrial production was up 1.0% in seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms in January, following a 0.9% increase in the prior month.
Relative to the prior month’s figures, readings in January improved for extraction and related services—which account for over 80% of industrial output in Norway (+1.2% on a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis vs +1.0% in December) and electricity, gas and steam (+3.7% vs +0.5% in December). In contrast, the reading for manufacturing worsened in January (-0.3% vs -0.2% in December).
On a working-day adjusted year-on-year basis, industrial production increased 6.3% in January, following 2.3% growth in the prior month.
