Peru: Inflation stabilizes in October
Latest reading: Consumer prices in the capital were up 1.4% on a year-on-year basis in October, unchanged from the previous month’s reading. The reading was in line with the Central Bank’s 1.0–3.0% target.
Relative to the prior month’s figures, there were higher price pressures for food and beverages (+0.8% on a year-on-year basis vs +0.6% in September), transport (+0.5% vs +0.3% in September) and clothing (+1.2% vs +1.1% in September). In contrast, there were milder price pressures for recreation and entertainment (+2.5% vs +2.7% in September) and housing and utilities (-1.5% vs -1.1% in September).
Lastly, consumer prices in Lima were down 0.10% in October in month-on-month terms, following a flat reading in the previous month.
