Poland: Inflation ebbs in January from December
Latest reading: Consumer prices rose 2.2% on a year-on-year basis in January, following a 2.4% rise in the prior month. January’s reading was the weakest since March 2024.
Relative to the previous month’s data, there were reduced price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+2.3% in annual terms vs +2.6% in December) and fuels for personal transport (-7.1% vs -3.1% in December). In contrast, price pressures were higher for electricity, gas and other fuels in January (+3.4% vs +2.8% in December).
Lastly, consumer prices increased 0.60% in January in month-on-month terms, following a flat reading in the prior month.
