Poland: Retail sales lose momentum in January
Latest reading: Retail sales increased 4.4% on a year-on-year basis in January, following 5.3% growth in the previous month.
Relative to the prior month’s figures, readings in January softened for motor vehicles, motorcycles and parts (-4.5% in annual terms vs +13.1% in December), furniture, radio, TV and household appliances (+10.5% vs +19.8% in December) and fuel (+4.6% vs +8.3% in December). In contrast, readings picked up for textiles, clothing and footwear (+17.6% vs +6.0% in December) and food, beverages and tobacco (+4.2% vs +1.9% in December).
On a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis, retail sales rose 0.5% in January, following a 0.4% rise in the previous month.
