Portugal: Economic sentiment rises in December
Latest reading: Economic sentiment increased to 107.5 in December, following November’s 106.6, anchoring further in expansionary territory and pointing to a positive near-term outlook for the economy. Moreover, December’s reading was the highest since February 2022 and among the strongest in the EU.
In December, sentiment improved in the services sector (+8.2 vs +5.9 in November) and among consumers (-15.2 vs -15.3 in November). In contrast, sentiment darkened in the industrial sector (-0.7 vs -0.1 in November), the construction sector (+2.1 vs +3.9 in November) and the retail sector (+6.3 vs +6.7 in November).
