Qatar: Inflation picks up in December from the prior month
Latest reading: Consumer prices increased 2.0% on a year-on-year basis in December, following a 1.4% increase in the prior month. December’s reading was the strongest since February 2024.
Relative to the previous month’s figures, there were higher price pressures for food (+0.6% on a year-on-year basis vs -1.7% in November), clothing (+3.3% vs +3.0% in November), housing (+1.5% vs +0.5% in November) and transport (-0.4% vs -1.8% in November). In contrast, price pressures reduced for recreation and culture in December (+1.4% vs +3.3% in November).
Lastly, consumer prices were up 1.44% in December in month-on-month terms, following a 0.35% rise in the prior month.
