Romania: Inflation ebbs in January from the prior month
Latest reading: Consumer prices rose 9.6% in annual terms in January, following a 9.7% increase in the previous month.
Relative to the previous month’s data, price pressures reduced for non-food goods in January (+10.0% in annual terms vs +10.5% in December). In contrast, there were more notable price pressures for food (+7.9% vs +7.8% in December) and services (+11.6% vs +11.0% in December).
Finally, consumer prices rose 0.86% in January in month-on-month terms, following a 0.22% increase in the previous month.
