Spain: Industrial output rebounds in May
Latest reading: Industrial output increased 0.6% in month-on-month seasonally adjusted terms in May, which contrasted April’s 0.7% decrease. Looking at the details of the release, capital goods output gathered steam, while intermediate goods output dropped at a softer rate. That said, consumer goods production increased at a softer pace in May.
On a seasonally and calendar adjusted annual basis, industrial output rose at a quicker rate of 1.7% in May (April: +0.6% yoy), the best result since December 2024. Accordingly, annual average industrial production growth rose to 0.3% in May (April: +0.1%). This signals an improving trend in the industrial sector.
