Spain: Inflation slows in December from the prior month
Latest reading: Harmonized consumer prices increased 3.0% in annual terms in December, following a 3.2% increase in the prior month.
Relative to the previous month’s figures, there were milder price pressures for transportation (+2.1% in annual terms vs +2.5% in November) and recreation (+0.8% vs +1.8% in November). In contrast, there were higher price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+3.0% vs +2.9% in November) and restaurants and hotels (+4.7% vs +4.6% in November). Finally, the variation in housing and utilities prices was the same as in the prior month (+5.6% in December and November).
Meanwhile, consumer prices rose 2.9% in December, following a 3.0% increase in the previous month.
Lastly, harmonized consumer prices were up 0.32% in December in month-on-month terms, following a 0.02% rise in the previous month.
