Sweden: Economic sentiment rises in December
Latest reading: Economic sentiment rose to 101.7 in December, following November’s 99.7. December’s reading was the highest since July 2022. Consequently, the index rose above the long-term average of 100, pointing to a postive near-term outlook for the economy.
In December, sentiment brightened in the industrial sector (+1.7 vs -2.1 in November), the services sector (+25.2 vs +22.3 in November) and the retail sector (+26.9 vs +24.4 in November). On the flipside, sentiment darkened in the construction sector (-9.9 vs -1.8 in November) and among consumers (-3.9 vs -3.3 in November).
