Latest reading: Economic sentiment declined to 100.0 in February, following January’s 101.7. The latest reading was equal to the long-term average of 100, pointing to a positive near-term outlook for the economy.
In February, sentiment worsened in the industrial sector (-3.3 vs -0.8 in January), the services sector (+23.4 vs +25.3 in January), the retail sector (+23.6 vs +27.2 in January) and among consumers (-2.5 vs -2.1 in January). In contrast, sentiment turned more upbeat in the construction sector (-9.3 vs -17.1 in January).
