Sweden: Industrial production falls in January
Latest reading: Industrial production—excluding energy—fell 9.1% on a calendar and seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis in January, following a 6.9% increase in the previous month. January’s reading was the weakest since August 2022.
Relative to the previous month’s figures, the reading for manufacturing softened in January (-9.5% in calendar and seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms vs +8.1% in December). In contrast, the reading for mining improved in January (+5.4% vs -9.1% in December).
In working-day adjusted year-on-year terms, industrial production increased 0.8% in January, following a 5.4% rise in the previous month.
