Sweden: Inflation ebbs in February from the prior month
Latest reading: Consumer prices with a fixed interest rate (CPIF) increased 1.7% on a year-on-year basis in February, following a 2.0% rise in the previous month. February’s reading was the weakest since December 2024.
Relative to the previous month’s data, price pressures reduced for food and non-alcoholic beverages in February (+1.8% in annual terms vs +3.2% in January). In contrast, there were more notable price pressures for housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (+0.8% vs -0.1% in January) and transportation (-1.2% vs -1.7% in January).
Meanwhile, core consumer prices—which exclude energy costs as well as the effect of interest-rate changes—increased 1.4% in annual terms in February, following a 1.7% rise in the prior month.
Lastly, consumer prices with a fixed interest rate were up 0.64% in February on a month-on-month basis, following a 0.27% rise in the previous month.
