Sweden: Inflation slows in December from prior month
Latest reading: Consumer prices with a fixed interest rate (CPIF) were up 2.1% on a year-on-year basis in December, following a 2.3% rise in the previous month. December’s reading was the weakest since December 2024.
Relative to the prior month’s figures, price pressures reduced for transportation in December (-2.2% in annual terms vs 0.0% in November). In contrast, there were higher price pressures for housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (-2.6% vs -3.1% in November) and food and non-alcoholic beverages (+3.7% vs +3.1% in November).
Meanwhile, core consumer prices—which exclude energy costs as well as the effect of interest-rate changes—were up 2.3% in annual terms in December, following a 2.4% increase in the previous month.
Lastly, consumer prices with a fixed interest rate were up 0.10% in December in month-on-month terms, following a 0.25% fall in the previous month.
