Taiwan: Inflation picks up in February from January
Latest reading: Consumer prices increased 1.8% in annual terms in February, following a 0.7% increase in the prior month. February’s reading was the strongest since April 2025.
Relative to the previous month’s data, there were higher price pressures for housing (+2.1% in annual terms vs +1.9% in January), transportation (-0.9% vs -1.9% in January) and education and entertainment (+4.5% vs -0.9% in January). In contrast, price pressures reduced for food in February (+0.2% vs +1.2% in January).
Lastly, consumer prices rose 0.64% in February in month-on-month terms, following a 0.04% fall in the previous month.
