Thailand: Manufacturing production loses momentum in January
Latest reading: Manufacturing production was up 1.5% in annual terms in January, following a 2.6% rise in the prior month.
Relative to the previous month’s figures, readings in January worsened for food products (+1.9% on a year-on-year basis vs +2.2% in December) and chemical products (-1.5% vs +2.2% in December). In contrast, readings picked up for automotive vehicles (+5.2% vs +5.0% in December), computer and electronic products (+18.8% vs +7.3% in December) and refined petroleum products (+3.5% vs +0.6% in December).
On a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis, manufacturing output declined 0.1% in January, following 2.5% growth in the prior month.
