Ukraine: Inflation decelerates in January from December
Latest reading: Consumer prices were up 7.4% on a year-on-year basis in January, following a 8.0% increase in the prior month. January’s reading was the weakest since July 2024.
Relative to the previous month’s figures, there were reduced price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+9.7% in annual terms vs +10.2% in December), housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (+2.2% vs +2.3% in December) and transportation (+5.9% vs +6.1% in December).
Meanwhile, core consumer prices increased 7.0% in annual terms in January, following a 8.0% increase in the previous month.
Lastly, consumer prices increased 0.70% in January on a month-on-month basis, following a 0.20% increase in the prior month.
