Uruguay: Inflation slows in December from November
Latest reading: Consumer prices increased 3.6% on a year-on-year basis in December, following a 4.1% increase in the previous month. December’s reading was the weakest since August 2005.
Relative to the previous month’s data, there were reduced price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+4.5% on a year-on-year basis vs +5.2% in November), clothing and footwear (-2.6% vs -2.2% in November) and transportation (-1.4% vs -0.3% in November). Finally, the variation in housing prices was the same as in the prior month (+4.1% in December and November).
Lastly, consumer prices declined 0.09% in December on a month-on-month basis, following a 0.14% increase in the prior month.
