Vietnam: Industrial output decelerates on calendar effects in February
Latest reading: Industrial production was up 1.0% in annual terms in February, following a 21.5% increase in the previous month. February’s reading was the weakest since January 2025. That said, January and February readings were distorted by a base effect due to the different timing of Lunar New Year holidays in 2025 and 2026.
Relative to the prior month’s data, readings in February worsened for manufacturing (+2.3% in annual terms vs +23.6% in January), electricity (-4.5% vs +14.1% in January), mining and quarrying (-5.3% vs +10.3% in January) and water supply (-5.6% vs +13.6% in January).
