Vietnam: Inflation eases in December from November
Latest reading: Consumer prices increased 3.5% in annual terms in December, following a 3.6% rise in the previous month.
Relative to the prior month’s figures, there were milder price pressures for transportation (-2.3% on a year-on-year basis vs -0.7% in November), education (+9.7% vs +9.9% in November) and housing and construction materials (+4.0% vs +4.5% in November). In contrast, price pressures were higher for food in December (+4.8% vs +3.5% in November).
Lastly, consumer prices rose 0.19% in December on a month-on-month basis, following a 0.45% increase in the prior month.
