Inflation slows in October from September

Latest reading: Harmonized consumer prices increased 2.5% on a year-on-year basis in October, following a 2.7% rise in the previous month. Relative to the prior month's data, there were reduced price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+2.7% in annual terms vs +3.1% in September), transportation (+1.6% vs +1.9% in September) and recreation (+0.8% vs +1.0% in September). In contrast, price pressures were higher for restaurants and hotels in October (+4.5% vs +4.4% in September). Finally, the change in housing and utilities prices was the same as in the prior month (+4.1% in October and September). Meanwhile, consumer prices rose 2.0% on a year-on-year basis in October, following a 2.1% increase in the previous month. Finally, harmonized consumer prices rose 0.37% in October on a month-on-month basis, following a 0.32% fall in the previous month.
