Inflation decelerates in February from January

Latest reading: Harmonized consumer prices increased 0.9% in annual terms in February, following a 1.2% increase in the previous month. Relative to the previous month's data, there were reduced price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+2.7% on a year-on-year basis vs +3.2% in January), transportation (-1.4% vs -0.5% in January), housing and utilities (-3.5% vs -2.5% in January) and recreation (+5.3% vs +5.8% in January). In contrast, price pressures were higher for restaurants and hotels in February (+4.9% vs +4.8% in January). Meanwhile, consumer prices increased 0.1% in February, following a 0.5% increase in the prior month. Lastly, harmonized consumer prices fell 0.01% in February on a month-on-month basis, following a 0.32% decline in the prior month.
