Retail sales decelerate in December
Latest reading: Retail sales rose 4.4% in annual terms in December, following a 6.3% increase in the prior month. Relative to the prior month's figures, readings in December worsened for food, beverages, and tobacco (+6.9% on a year-on-year basis vs +8.5% in November), motor vehicles, parts and accessories (+12.4% vs +17.7% in November), automotive fuels (+0.2% vs +0.8% in November), information and communication equipment (-31.2% vs -27.4% in November) and cultural and recreation goods (+3.5% vs +8.1% in November).
