Inflation picks up in October from September

Latest reading: Harmonized consumer prices were up 2.8% in annual terms in October, following a 2.7% rise in the previous month. Relative to the previous montsh's figures, there were higher price pressures for transportation (+2.0% in annual terms vs +1.5% in September), housing and utilities (+3.1% vs +2.8% in September), recreation (+2.9% vs +2.7% in September) and restaurants and hotels (+3.3% vs +3.0% in September). In contrast, price pressures reduced for food and non-alcoholic beverages in October (+4.5% vs +4.8% in September). Meanwhile, consumer prices rose 2.9% in October, following a 2.7% rise in the previous month. Finally, harmonized consumer prices increased 0.41% in October in month-on-month terms, following a 0.24% decline in the prior month.
