Industrial production slows in December
Latest reading: Industrial production was up 8.1% in annual terms in December, following 8.2% growth in the prior month. Relative to the prior month's data, readings in December softened for mining and quarrying (+5.9% on a year-on-year basis vs +10.8% in November), electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (-0.6% vs +3.2% in November) and water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities (-7.7% vs -6.9% in November). In contrast, the reading for manufacturing improved in December (+11.6% vs +6.4% in November).
