Industrial output growth eases but remains robust in April
Latest reading: Industrial output grew 6.2% compared to the same month a year earlier in April, which was a deterioration from March's 8.5% increase. Still, the reading remained strong by pre-pandemic standards. Looking at the details of the release, a softer rise in manufacturing production and a sharper decline in water supply outweighed a recovery in energy output. Meanwhile, mining expanded around 10% for the second straight month in April. Meanwhile, annual average industrial production growth rose to 3.9% in April (March: +3.5%), signaling an improving trend in the industrial sector.
