Industrial production accelerates in January
Latest reading: Industrial production was up 5.9% on a year-on-year basis in January, following 4.8% growth in the prior month. January's reading was the strongest since July 2024. Relative to the previous month's data, readings in January improved for manufacturing (+7.3% in annual terms vs +6.7% in December), mining and quarrying (+0.1% vs -2.5% in December) and electricity and gas (+6.3% vs +3.8% in December). On a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis, industrial production rose 0.9% in January, stable from the prior month's reading.
