Harmonized inflation hit an over one-year high in June
Latest reading: Harmonized inflation rose to 2.5% in June from May’s 1.9%, marking the highest inflation rate since May 2024. The reading was driven by rising price pressures for food, and softer declines in transportation plus housing and utilities costs. That said, restaurants and hotels prices rose at a softer pace. The trend pointed up slightly, with annual average harmonized inflation coming in at 1.7% in June (May: 1.6%). Meanwhile, consumer price inflation rose to 2.2% in June from May’s 1.8%. Finally, harmonized consumer prices rose 0.60% over the previous month in June, swinging from the 0.10% fall seen in May.
