Latest reading: Economic sentiment went down to 91.9 in March from February’s 93.1. The latest reading was below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
In March, sentiment darkened in the services sector (+4.9 vs +8.7 in February) and among consumers (-20.3 vs -13.3 in February). In contrast, sentiment brightened in the industrial sector (-12.5 vs -15.0 in February), the construction sector (-19.2 vs -25.5 in February) and the retail sector (+5.5 vs -1.9 in February).
