Austria: Harmonized inflation increases in April

Latest reading: Harmonized inflation came in at 3.3% in April, up from March’s 3.1%. The increase was largely due to stronger price growth for housing and utilities, hospitality, and recreation. Additionally, transport prices returned to growth in April after having declined in the prior month.

Annual average harmonized inflation remained at March’s 2.7% in April. Meanwhile, consumer price inflation ticked up to 3.1% in April from March’s 3.0%.

Finally, harmonized consumer prices increased 0.27% over the previous month in April, moderating from March’s 0.33% increase. April’s result marked the weakest reading since August 2024.
